Heroin Rehab Services

With nearly a million people using heroin every year and numbers rising all the time, heroin addiction treatment is crucial to saving lives and restoring families.  At Riverside Recovery Center, our expert and compassionate staff understands that addiction recovery is a difficult process and differs for each individual. We have crafted intensive and effective outpatient services to ensure that the individual suffering from the disease of addiction has the best chance for recovery while still tending to family or work obligations.

At Riverside Recovery Center, we feel that a person need not hit rock bottom to get the necessary motivation to recover their sober life. Patients can enter at any stage of addiction and receive comprehensive treatments that have a strong chance of success.

Assessment and Consultation

Assessment begins when one of our caring licensed chemical dependency professionals administers an evaluation based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition, also known as the DSM IV TR. Our staff also refer to the standards and protocols set by the American Society of Addiction Medicine. This initial evaluation identifies physical and psychological issues that the doctors and staff will address during the treatment process.

The next step lies in creating a Master Problem List in conjunction with the patient. This ensures that the addict takes an active role in planning his or her own recovery.

Many people suffering from addiction do not admit or understand the impact that the disease has on their lives and their loved ones. In these cases, an intervention may be necessary to help the addict gain a more clear understanding. We can help families and/or friends set up effective interventions that reflect a psychological understanding of how the addict mind works and will respond.

If you are coming in or bringing a loved one for a free consultation, make sure that the patient brings a photo ID and health insurance card. You can call ahead of time for a complementary benefits check as well.

The Detoxification Process

Heroin’s dramatic impact on the mind and body can create not only unpleasant, but also dangerous withdrawal symptoms. These include chills, severe anxiety, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, agitation, and muscle aches. Detoxification should only take place under the care of a medical professional experienced in treating patients in detoxification.

Although heroin dissipates quickly into the bloodstream, it can take up to a week for it to fully exit the body.

Intensive and Effective Outpatient Services

Riverside Recovery Center offers an intensive and effective outpatient program of treatment. While inpatient programs are more appropriate for some recovering from the disease of addiction, many others need options that allow them to focus on responsibilities at work and home.

Our outpatient recovery program, when appropriate, relies on the use of Vivitrol. Like traditional medical treatments, such as methadone or Suboxone, Vivitrol engages the receptors in the brain that link with heroin to produce a high. Different from these drugs, however, Vivitrol contains no addictive properties. It effectively blocks the brain’s receptors from engaging heroin at all.

Alongside medical treatment, Riverside Recovery Center emphasizes group counseling, individual therapy, and addiction education to ensure that the whole patient gets treated and is prepared for recovery and sober life.
